Our family owned auction company was founded in 1978 in San Jose, California. In the early days we wholesaled antiques from Europe exclusively to dealers. In the late ‘70’s, we decided to try auctioning our antiques directly to the public.
The idea turned out to be a classic “win - win” as the public loved the opportunity to purchase antiques at or below wholesale and Somerset was able to create a successful auction company.
Today, our unique auction travels throughout the West and performs over 130 auctions each year. Not only do we offer antiques but new home furnishings and collectibles from more than 30 countries.
To help fill this need for antiques and collectibles we continue to scour the earth looking for only the best to auction.
Over 250,000 people have attended Somerset auctions and over 50% of the people attending an auction are past customers.
